What you will be doing:
The Senior Analyst, Business Policy and Governance is responsible for supporting the design, maintenance, and execution of robust policy, process and governance frameworks that safeguard Tangerine’s innovative wealth management products, services, digital platforms, and related business operations. Operating in a dynamic, agile environment, the incumbent ensures robust business process optimization and cross-functional collaboration. The role is pivotal in enabling rapid product iterations, supporting a hybrid-advice model and digital wealth strategy, and integrating technology-driven solutions within business and operational governance. This role operates at the intersection of product governance, regulatory compliance, and broader business governance, ensuring strict regulatory adherence and effective oversight of both product offerings and cross-functional processes.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Product and Business Governance
- Support in the development and maintenance in wealth product and business governance frameworks, covering new and existing product reviews, ongoing oversight and reviews throughout their lifecycle.
- Maintain governance structures with clear documentation, accountability, and data-driven decision-making for wealth product and operational changes.
- Support governance and related business oversight forums with reporting, dashboards, and high-quality materials.
- Support in the production of key metrics, dashboards, and executive summaries for senior management and regulatory reporting.
- Act as a key liaison between product, digital delivery, advisors, back-office operations, risk and compliance teams, fostering open channels for feedback and solutions.
- Partner with product, marketing, technology, client servicing and operations teams to ensure initiatives align with governance and compliance expectations.
- Advise stakeholders on policy principles and process standards to balance regulatory obligations with growth objectives.
- Contribute to strategic wealth initiatives involving product innovation, digital wealth experiences, wealth distribution, modernization of operations and platforms.
- Policy and Process Management
- Develop, update, and interpret internal process and policies concerning product shelf management, Know Your Product (KYP), Know Your Client (KYC) suitability, conflicts of interest, client disclosures, financial operations, and other related and digital practices.
- Monitor regulatory and industry developments from CIRO, OSC, CSA, and other industry bodies and proactively assess impact on product design, distribution, process design, and operations.
- Conduct periodic process and policy reviews to ensure currency, compliance, and alignment with the firm’s governance model.
- Liaise with compliance, legal, business controls, domestic taxation advisory, privacy, anti-money laundering/anti-terrorist financing and sanctions, fraud, IT governance, and finance control teams to implement policy, processes and regulatory changes into agile operational, digital, and product practices.
- Operational Governance
- Map, design, maintain, and optimize core business and operational processes supporting product governance, regulatory compliance, client servicing and financial operations, ensuring consistency and compliance within a rapidly evolving digital environment.
- Support in establishing process standards, control points and governance enhancements across the wealth management value chain to ensure the consistency and mitigation of operational and product risks.
- Identify opportunities to streamline governance workflows, approvals, and reporting through process optimization and technology-enabled solutions.
- Manage change control and transition activities for regulatory or policy updates across business functions; coordinate with compliance, technology, client advising, analytics, operations and product teams.
- Participate in internal risk assessment, internal audits, and regulatory examinations related to product, distribution, financial operations oversight, or governance frameworks.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- University Degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field; postgraduate degree or professional designation preferred (MBA, JD/LLB, CFA, CIM, FRM/PRM, CIDC, GPC).
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in product/business governance, policy, compliance, risk management, or process management within a CIRO-regulated environment.
- Bilingual capabilities (English/French) are beneficial.
- Experience in leading through influence without authority.
- Strong understanding of CIRO/CSA/OSC requirements related to product due diligence, KYP, suitability, financial operations, conflicts of interest and business conduct.
- Demonstrated experience drafting policies, mapping processes, and implementing governance frameworks.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
- Strong integrity, professional judgement, and client-centric thinking through a regulatory lens.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical policies and procedures; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills, complemented by solid business acumen and a strategic mindset to effectively problem solve.
- Strong critical thinking and effective negotiation and problem resolution skills, with the ability to build relationships across varied stakeholder groups.
