What you will be doing:

The Director, Head of Product, Platform & Proposition, Tangerine Business is a versatile, entrepreneurial, and outcomes-driven leader who will shape and scale the Digital Small Business product portfolio from the ground up. 

In this role, you will define and drive the execution of a customer-centric product and experience roadmap aligned to Tangerine’s Small Business strategy. You will be central to building a new business for Tangerine—partnering with our Velocity team to deliver digital product development, informing our go-to-market launch, and orchestrating a future-focused product suite with cross-functional teams—ensuring we build the right thing at the right time. Your work will deliver intuitive, modern, high-value digital experiences and products that help small business owners start, manage, and grow their businesses effortlessly.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Supporting the business strategy and operating model:
    • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
    • Manages Profit and Loss statements for the Digital Small Business line including delivering on financial goals/targets for revenue, NII, and deposit growth/volume. Works with the Finance and Portfolio Pricing teams to provide business line forecasts used in management of the business.
    • Leads all aspects of product management for product development, pricing, distribution, and regulatory requirements including working with partners on campaigns, rates, digital enablement and marketing with a focus on delivering business line results.
    • Partners with Deposit, Lending and Payment teams to envision and establish strategic partnerships that drive primary relationships and plays a leadership role in vendor and partner management as required to deliver the Digital Small Business proposition.
    • Develops and executes business line strategies that align with targets, divisional and overall business goals. Works with partners as required to implement strategic direction.
    • Leads and oversees key projects related to the business lines as required. May include new product launches, policy reviews etc.
    • Partners with Deposit and Payment teams to articulate the Digital Small Business Product Strategy; works closely with Lending, Credit Risk Management and operations teams to define end-to-end offerings
    • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Support the business to deliver great customer experience:
    • Collaborates with Client Experience and other functions to envision, business case, test, and deploy digital innovations, along with developing user experience journeys for the Digital Small Business products.
    • Communicates Digital Small Business strategies and tactics internally with staff members to ensure collaboration and alignment.
    • Reports and manages the KPI’s and KRI’s for the Digital Small Business, including establishing departmental goals, projects and operational initiatives aligned with key business objectives.
    • Ensures that all Digital Small Business priorities are aligned strategically and have been validated through both qualitative and quantitative methods, including consumer feedback.
    • Partners with the Product Agile Squads and Marketing to develop and implement marketing tactics that will target value conscious Canadians and clients to help drive profitable volume growth.

  • Leading digital product and experience (Digital Small Business)
    • Defines and champions the end-to-end Digital Small Business multi-year product vision, ensuring alignment with enterprise and segment strategic priorities.
    • Translates Digital Small Business strategy into an actionable, results-driven product and experience roadmap with clear success metrics, sequencing delivery to ensure we build the right thing at the right time
    • Partners with Velocity (Technology and Engineering, Marketing, Client Solutions, Operations, Risk, Finance) to advance Digital Small Business objectives and drive end-to-end delivery from discovery through launch and iteration
    • Establishes the product operating rhythm for Digital Small Business including prioritization, experimentation, launch readiness, adoption monitoring and ongoing optimization across the product lifecycle.

  • Leading a team:
    • Provides strong strategic leadership to motivate and develop leaders and build collaborative and cross-functional team performance.
    • Works with members of the organization to create, reinforce and ensure that culture is aligned with defined organizational values.
    • Responsible for timely and effective change management communication and training leading to the successful implementation of corporate priorities.
    • As a key member of the Deposit and Everyday Solutions leadership team, actively participates in overall strategic and operational planning and in the development of financial objectives and strategic imperatives for Tangerine and Scotiabank.
    • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
    • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field or 7+ years product management experience with direct exposure to Deposits and related products
  • Master’s Degree in Business an asset
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services with a focus on product management
  • P&L acumen
  • Proven track record in developing and managing products, including experience with product lifecycle management and new product development
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor, coach, and influence stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in banking, especially as they pertain to Deposit products
  • Customer-centric mindset with experience in identifying customer needs and adapting products to enhance customer experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, collaborating across functions and adapting to a rapidly changing organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to create shared vision, inspire collaboration, and drive change with momentum.
