What you will be doing:
 
Reporting to the Design Lead, Digital Wealth, the Digital Product Designer plays a critical role in translating business strategy, user needs, and technical constraints into intuitive, elegant, and effective digital experiences. Acting as a bridge between customers, product, and engineering, the designer brings a strong foundation in user experience, interaction design, and visual craft to inform product direction and execution.

As Tangerine Wealth builds out its Investment Product shelf, designing seamless, accessible, and user-centric front-end experiences will be key to delivering strong client outcomes. Day to day, you will work in close collaboration with product managers, developers, UX researchers, content designers, and other specialists to concept, prototype, and deliver high-quality digital products that are both functional and delightful to use.

Working within an empowered, cross-functional team, the Digital Product Designer will take ownership of their work across the design lifecycle, from discovery and ideation through to delivery and iteration. This is a rewarding, creative, and challenging role that requires strong problem-solving skills, a user-first mindset, and attention to detail in execution.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

• Design Leadership & Craft
  • Lead the mobile-first design of digital wealth experiences from concept to execution, including flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Translate complex financial products into clear, intuitive, and accessible experiences
  • Apply strong mobile interaction design, visual design, and usability principles to deliver polished, thoughtful solutions
  • Bring a clear design point of view, advocating for simplicity, clarity, and user value
    
    
• User-Centered Design
  • Plan and conduct (or partner on) user research, interviews, and usability testing
  • Synthesize insights into actionable opportunities and experience improvements
  • Map end-to-end customer journeys, identifying friction points and moments of opportunity
  • Champion accessibility and inclusive design across all touchpoints
    
    
• Collaboration & Influence
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Engineers, and other designers to shape the product direction
  • Contribute design perspectives to product strategy, helping define what to build and why
  • Communicate design decisions clearly using storytelling, artifacts, and rationale
  • Elevate design quality across the team through critique, feedback, and mentorship
    
    
• Design Systems & Scalability
  • Design within and contribute to a scalable design system, ensuring consistency and efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to evolve patterns, components, and standards
  • Balance system constraints with creativity to push the design forward
    
    
• Discovery & Innovation
  • Lead or contribute to early-stage discovery, exploring new concepts, features, and opportunities
  • Navigate ambiguity to define problems clearly and propose user-centered solutions
  • Explore and prototype new ideas to de-risk concepts and validate direction

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

• Bachelors or master’s degree in design, Humanities, Systems engineering or related fields (or equivalent work experience).
• Previous experience in Investments is preferred.
• Ability to work within the constraints of a Design System with flexibility, and a desire to push existing standards to the next level by contributing back to our Design System library.
• A demonstrable history of applying design thinking tenets and user centered design principles to design problems.
• 5+ years of professional experience designing responsive web/native mobile software applications.
• Proficiency in the use of digital design and prototyping tools, primarily Figma, but alternatives could include Sketch and/or Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, Proto.io, etc.
