The Team

Scotiabank’s Infrastructure Automation Services team is responsible for combining the competencies of DevOps, Systems Administration, and Test Engineering.


The role:

The Senior Cloud Systems Administrator provides the opportunity to combine your technical ability, strategic thinking and detail-oriented execution in a fast-paced, dynamic 24x7x365 environment.


Is this role right for you?

  • You will join a team with the purpose of constantly improving the reliability of our systems through continuous improvements to running infrastructure (e.g., performance management, disaster recovery, monitoring & access management), tools and processes.
  • You will work with application teams to deliver continuous improvements to applications and support the transformation of our approach to both operations and development (e.g., code testing automation and deployment tools and processes).
  • You will work with the Cloud Engineering teams and our Technology Providers to design solutions, test and implement tools and processes that monitor and respond to the state of our cloud-based systems.
  • You will manage reliability of critical infrastructure platforms + work to improve and maintain site availability, scalability, service and system performance.
  • You will investigate system errors & problems, bottleneck analysis of the system at scale, etc.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You have solid communication (verbal/written) skills in English.  The same in Spanish is an asset.
  • You have at least 2 years of hands-on technical working experience with UNIX and/or Linux and/or Windows System Administration
  • You have at least 2 years of hands-on technical working experience with supporting an Enterprise Operations.
  • You have at least 1 year of practical experience in the use of Python and/or Jython.
  • You have at least 1 year of hands-on technical working experience in managing (systems analysis/monitoring) of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) & Microsoft Azure hosted infrastructure & systems.
  • You have technical working knowledge of network operations (e.g., DNS, TCP/IP, Load balancing, DMZ, routing protocols, etc…)
  • Post-Secondary education in Computer Science, or related field
