As part of the Climate Change team, the Project Manager, Net Zero will play an integral role in helping Scotiabank advance its Net Zero Pathways project and Climate Commitments. 

 

 

Accountabilities
•    Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

•    Manages the enterprise-wide Net Zero Pathways project, including the development of schedules/workback plans, tracking of project deliverables, and liaison with different internal teams across the bank.

•    Supports the bank’s internal Net Zero working groups, including meeting facilitation and follow-ups. Supports the development of internal briefing materials to senior executives and Board of Directors. 

•    Supports the bank’s internal teams in tracking emissions reductions progress against interim targets, integrating Net Zero levers into business line planning, and setting targets for future priority sectors. 

•    Supports other members of the Climate Change team in climate-related analyses, decarbonization research, and advisory efforts to help business lines develop new products and services. 

•    Assists in Net Zero related issues management, including providing research and content on inbound ESG communications needs.

•    Assists in Net Zero project budgeting and payment tracking, in collaboration with the finance and operations team, as appropriate.

•    Fosters climate engagement with internal stakeholders, mobilizing knowledge, commitment, and action across the organization. 

•    Supports on other tasks as assigned related to climate change, decarbonization, and Net Zero initiatives.

•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 

•    Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
 

 

 

Education / Experience / Other Information
•    4+ years of work experience in Sustainability, ESG and/or Project Management
•    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, such as business, science, sustainability, or economics
•    Formal project management training
•    PMI certification (e.g. PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP) or agile training is considered an asset
•    Master’s degree and/or experience in Corporate Social Responsibility/Business Sustainability/Climate Change is considered an asset
•    Exceptional organizational skills
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, and stakeholder facilitation skills
 

 

 

Working Conditions
•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
