The Director, U.S AML Risk Analytics provides the strategic director, leadership and oversight of the U.S. AML Risk transaction monitoring and screening program ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

 

 

Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:

 

 

 

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of strategies, standards, and procedures to support the U.S. AML Risk Analytics program while ensuring adherence to related regulatory, policies, standards, and practices.
  • Lead the U.S. AML Risk program in the development, monitoring and enhancement of transaction monitoring scenarios, in collaboration with business partners including technology, data and the enterprise AML analytics function.
  • Provide challenge and oversight of scenarios, tuning packages and issues impacting global AML screening systems including but not limited to Transaction Monitoring, Payment and Client Screening, and Customer Risk Rating to ensure they meet U.S. AML Risk program and regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with AML Risk teams to monitor efficacy of monitoring and screening scenarios determine effective calibration of Bank’s surveillance systems.
  • Prioritize AML rules and models related issues and collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to address and remediate issues in a timely manner based on priority and severity.
  • Developing an effective challenge and oversight model for AML Risk Models, including defining metrics, to measure its effectiveness.
  • Actively track U.S. regulatory changes and anticipating the impact these will have on internal AML policy changes with impact on Product coverage, Models and Transaction monitoring.
  • Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Represent Scotiabank in industry forums and collaborates with industry’s AML professionals to address common challenges or changes in regulation.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

 


Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:

 

 

 

  • 5+ years of experience in AML /ATF risk management in a U.S. financial regulatory environment and 10+ years of experience in a financial firm.
  • Combination of 5+ years of AML and Trade Compliance models and rules and TM risk analytics.
  • CAMS certification is required.
  • Demonstrated ability for strategic influencing and education of cross-functional stakeholders about the strategic importance and value of TM optimization and model validation.
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in relevant field; graduate degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of current regulatory environment in the financial services industry.
  • Ability to influence and drive organizational change, and effectively escalate and resolve issues.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and presentation skills, including oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
