The Senior Manager, Investment Distribution Management, is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to support the distribution of institutional equity mandates across SGAM channels. The role bridges the Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser Equity Research team with internal/external client engagement, ensuring offerings are effectively supported and well-positioned.

Product Support & Insights:

  • Provide direct support for the Scotia JF Equity Research team by developing persuasive, accurate and timely sales support materials and communications across multiple brands, deliverables, and channels. 
  • Overall responsibility for the positioning of the Scotia JF Equity Research team, including the development of clear, concise selling points and marketing messages for all mandates based on their underlying value proposition; responsible for the development of thought leadership aligned to the team’s investment philosophy.
  • Prepare client-specific materials and support business development activities such as briefing notes, product summaries and presentation preparation materials.
  • Act as a content resource for various marketing and product teams in the production of equity mandate updates and client-facing publications, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and appropriate tone in all materials.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives supporting the Scotia JF Equity Research team and Investment Distribution Management.

 

Portfolio Manager/Client Engagement:

  • Work closely with portfolio managers and each distribution channel to position products to resonate with target client audiences to foster AUM growth.

 

Sales Enablement & Relationship Management

  • Responsible for the development of a comprehensive support strategy that builds, enhances and sustains knowledge and understanding of equity strategies (both listed/private) across the field.
  • Respond to distribution inquiries and actively solicit input and feedback from partners on ways to improve support.
  • Collaborate across Investment Management, Distribution, Marketing, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Product Development & Innovation and other stakeholders in both leadership and key contributor capacities.
  • Liaise with relationship managers with respect to the ongoing maintenance of existing investment dealers, including the organization of presentations to investment committees and boards as required.

 

Market Intelligence

  • Perform market research and competitive analysis on key mandates through data gathering and synthesis on equity industry trends and key competitors in each segment.

 

Performance & Reporting

  • Track Scotia JF Equity team’s distribution performance metrics, including sales volumes, client engagement, communication and channel effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies.

 

 

Education, Professional Experience, Certifications and Skills required:

 

  • 10+ years of experience working in the asset management industry;
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics or equivalent work experience;
  • MBA and/or CFA Designation is an asset;
  • Understanding/experience in financial markets, equities, and investment strategy;
  • Detailed knowledge of financial markets and investment process / strategy and positioning;
  • Strong understanding of institutional investment solutions/structures (Listed/Private) including separate accounts, collective vehicles, LPs, mutual funds, ETFs, and offering memorandum structure;
  • Strong communication skills in French and English (written and verbal);
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities;
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks;
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a proactive and resourceful mindset;
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Morningstar Direct, and Bloomberg is an asset.

 

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours may be required.  Limited travel domestically.

 

 

In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English, as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other people, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.
