The Domestic Branch Network Services Group provides direct assistance to the Canadian Branches and Executive Management in developing and maintaining an effective branch delivery network across Canada. This department provides branch network planning for 6 Regions across Canada. Branching initiatives include network proposals such as new branches, relocations, expansions, renovations, closures/consolidations, and other non-standard and out-of-budget requests from Executive Management. This is a dynamic department subject to changing priorities. A high degree of flexibility and commitment is required.


POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail oriented, analytic, results focused, Manager, Branch Network Planning. Reporting to the Senior Manager, and as part of the Real Estate Department, the Manager plays a critical role in understanding the banking business requirements of regional operating groups, conducting market research, financial forecasting analysis and developing business case recommendations for approval by the Bank’s Executive Management. The Manager is a key member of the Branch Network Planning Team and works closely with other head office support groups to achieve business objectives. The Manager also fields and provides timely turnaround on a broad range of ad-hoc market, financial and customer information requests from throughout the Bank.

The Manager is accountable for impacting the Bank’s overall performance with respect to providing well researched and sound recommendations that are projected to increase Bank profitability. This is achieved by applying strong analytical, problem solving, research, and business case preparing skills. Utilizing strong negotiation, interpersonal and teamwork skills, the Manager ensures the team achieves their business goals and delivers customer service consistent with Scotiabank standards.




Key Accountabilities:
1) Provide Senior Departmental and Regional Management with strongly described recommendations for the cost effective and timely development and positioning of the Bank's distribution network (i.e. new branches, relocations, expansions, renovations, closures/ consolidations, lease renewals).
2) Develop the financial forecast to assess alternatives of capital investment initiatives and related ongoing operating expenditures.
3) Provide liaison function between the Regions & District Vice-Presidents, Real Estate, Channel Strategy and Shared Services
4) Conduct timely, high quality value add research as a basis for management decision-making for standard and non-standard requests.
5) Assist in identifying, promoting and establishing new approaches in analyzing and presenting information to assist in decision making. Provide management and leadership support to all supervised staff and be a team player in the Domestic Branch Network Services Group and in Real Estate.
6) Demonstrate initiative and provide efficient and effective support to contribute to Branch Network Services objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5 years working experience Market Analysis/Location Analysis
- Extensive knowledge of urban development activities within diverse geographic boundaries and a strong knowledge of the related local economics and demographics
- Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in interaction with staff at all levels
- Demonstrated strong financial analysis, problem solving and decision making skills
- An effective team-builder dedicated to the highest standards of customer service;
- A Strategic thinker who takes into account long term adjustments, and demonstrates an aptitude to react quickly to changes and to successfully prioritize and manage numerous projects on varied subjects concurrently
- University degree, preferably with an emphasis in Applied Geography (economic and marketing geography, retail site location analysis), finance & economics, and/or urban planning.
