Active Directory Infrastructure Architect

POSITION SUMMARY:
The mandate of the Infrastructure Solutions and Design group is to ensure that the IT infrastructure is in place that will contribute to a high level of reliability, availability and performance in order to allow the Bank to conduct businesses effectively and efficiently. The group consults, designs, research and promotes strategic infrastructure architecture in conjunction with lines of business as well as developing tactical infrastructure plans as required. The architect will oversee and approve designs and implementation of infrastructure initiatives. Solutions are reviewed for infrastructure compliancy to the architectural roadmap for the Bank. The scope of the infrastructure ranges from desktops to mid-tier servers to the mainframe excluding the network.
Key accountabilities for this role:
- Provide technical architectural design solutions/reviews for major business application and technology initiatives focusing on Windows Technologies;
- Solution architecture and design services for major (critical) IT infrastructure projects:
- Business case & RFS input;
- Technology risk assessments;
- Lead architecture development in EDD and GDD phases.
- Technical Oversight and consulting support services for project build and delivery phases
Participate in and support the Architecture Office led architectural community activities:
- Major project compliancy reviews;
- Infrastructure vendor recommendations ;
- Technology standards creation ;
- Vitality contributions.
- Lead and manage deployment of new infrastructure in support of new application systems;
- Contribute new ideas and introduce new innovative technologies to the Bank's architecture and design teams;
- Participate in various technology forums to identify, recommend, develop and enhance new and existing IT architectural building blocks;
- Provide investigative summary analysis and technical advice to management, peers and users;
- Provide technical leadership and coordination for complex enterprise technology projects;
- Contribute to a high level of reliability, availability and performance of the Bank's infrastructure to allow the Bank to conduct businesses effectively and efficiently;
- Consult, design and promote strategic infrastructure architecture in conjunction with lines of business as well as developing tactical infrastructure plans as required;
- Oversee and approve designs and implementation of infrastructure initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years of architectural design and/or consulting experience in Windows technologies and Active Directory design in large complex environments;
- Excellent customer relationship skills;
- Excellent oral and written skills both technical and business writing and presentation;
- Development of Architecture Documentation, technical specifications and implementation planning;
- Able to communicate and present technical recommendations with all levels of management and technical staff;
- Able to act as a facilitator for large groups of managers and senior technical people;
- Solid workplace technology experience in the Distributed areas;
- Experience in Application architecture and services would be an asset;
- Additional experience would be useful in:
- Mid-Range systems including AIX and LINUX;
- Microsoft technologies ( i.e.Workplace products, Windows servers, Windows desktops);
- Microsoft Developer technologies like .Net, VB, Visual Studio;
- Microsoft Business products like BizTalk , Exchange and SQL Server;
- Server Virtualization technologies like VMware;
- Security and firewall technologies.
EDUCATION AND ACCREDITATIONS:
- University or College degree preferred;
- Certification certificates in job related skills will also be considered;
- Fifteen or more years of experience in the IT industry focusing in the finance industry would be desirable.
