POSITION SUMMARY:
Commercial Banking provides mid-market and independent business clients throughout Canada with innovative borrowing solutions for financing growth, money management services to help efficiently manage cash flow, and tools and strategies to mitigate business risks.
The Commercial Associates Program (CAP) is designed to provide Senior Associates with coach-supported opportunities to learn, practice, apply and test the skills and knowledge required to confidently transition into positions throughout Commercial Banking. A customized learning plan is created for each Senior Associate that takes into account individual needs and prior experience. The Program is delivered in six major urban centres across Canada: Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.
Throughout the 7-10 month Program, Senior Associates will gain a thorough understanding of the Commercial Bank through the following activities:
- Analytical Training - Topics include financial analysis, products & services, tools & technology
- Commercial Banking Introduction - Job shadow rotations in Commercial areas including Distribution, Specialty Product Groups, Real Estate Lending, Automotive Finance & Indirect Lending and Roynat Capital
- Partner Introduction - Job shadow rotations with Commercial business partners such as the Business Service Centre, Global Risk Management and Global Transaction Banking
- Sales Training - Gain an understanding of the Commercial Sales Platform Framework and complete a job shadow rotation within a sales team
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Upon completion of CAP, the Senior Associate will demonstrate the following skills and competencies:
- The ability to develop and manage beneficial relationships with commercial business customers, while building and maintaining a market profile with internal and external contacts
- The ability to assume responsibility for the profitable growth of an assigned portfolio of commercial business customers, through the development of new relationships and retention and enhancement of existing ones
- The capability to conduct financial analyses, prepare and negotiate credit applications and the direct selling of credit and non-credit commercial products to clients and prospects
- An in-depth knowledge of commercial business products and services, risk management policies and legal and security documentation
- Excellent business development techniques and familiarity with commercial legal structures and life cycles, competitor offerings and alternate sources of financing

- You are able to demonstrate flexibility in adapting to a constantly changing environment
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
EDUCATION AND ACCREDITATIONS:
- The incumbent must have an under/post graduate degree in a business, commerce, finance or accounting-related discipline
OTHER INFORMATION:
- The training will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- Upon completion of training, the incumbent will assume a position as a Client Relationship Manager and must be mobile within the Atlantic provinces.
